FX Rack Live support
Use this page to prepare FX Rack Live for a digital-mixer send/return workflow and to check the most common causes when a chain is silent.
1. Select the interface
Choose the multichannel Core Audio device connected to your mixer and confirm the required sample rate and buffer size.
2. Build one chain first
Route a known mixer send to the chain input, add an Audio Unit, and route the stereo output to two dedicated mixer return channels.
3. Verify signal in stages
Check the mixer send, FX Rack Live input meter, plug-in, output meter and mixer return in that order.
4. Save and relaunch
Save the session, quit normally and relaunch before relying on the rack at a show.
Routing checklist
- The mixer USB send or direct-out patch feeds the expected computer input channel.
- The chain input meter moves before troubleshooting the plug-in.
- The Audio Unit is installed, enabled and compatible with the current Mac.
- The chain output uses the two USB channels patched to your stereo mixer return.
- The return channels are not muted and are routed to the intended mix.
- The sample rate agrees across the mixer, interface and macOS device.
Mac mini auto-start and recovery
- Finish the routing and save the working FX Rack Live session.
- Quit and reopen the app once to confirm that the selected device, chains and plug-ins return correctly.
- In macOS System Settings, open General → Login Items and add FX Rack Live to Open at Login.
- Set the audio interface and mixer to a predictable power-up order. FX Rack Live waits when the selected interface is not yet available.
- Perform a full restart with the actual mixer and interface connected. Do not put the rack into service until routing and audio return as expected.
- Repeat the test with the interface connected a little later, so you know how the installation behaves after an interrupted start.
Tempo and MIDI Learn
FX Rack Live 1.1 supports a global BPM, an optional local BPM per chain and MIDI Learn for a Note-on tap button. A learned tap uses MIDI channel and note, so reconnecting or replacing a MIDI source does not require a source-specific mapping. MIDI Clock, start and stop are not part of version 1.1.
